Since it is a "Piece 'O Cake" pattern I had
to get permission from them to enter the quilt contest.
Becky Goldsmith very graciously wrote a
wonderful note giving permission!

This is the first time I have entered an AQS show,
totally floating on cloud Nine!

Quilt Repair!

The Hawaiian Quilt
All during high school all my son wore
was Hawaiian shirts!

So naturally when he graduated high school
he wanted them cut up into a quilt…
which I did, and he took it to college
in his sophomore year!
(it took awhile!)

Now that he is moving into his own place he
asked if I would repair the quilt!

He so nicely gave me a stack of the Hawaiian
shirts he wore all through college!
Eleven of them - to be exact!!
(some traditions just never go away!)

So cut them up I did!

Not realizing how extensive the repair job would be...

Yikes there is even missing batting!!

It probably would have been easier to make a new quilt,
as this one needed 35 patches!!

Patches in place I delivered it to him yesterday
He was very happy!

His new apartment is taking shape,
DH watching after giving instructions
on how to hang curtain rods!!

His living room is a bit sparse!
But a good start,
he was given a nice leather living room set from his old boss -
it was furniture that was in the lobby of the business he worked
for right out of college!

Actually very comfortable.

And yes he would like a new quilt to match…
the Yellow Leather!!!

Hmmmm….
I have so much Hawaiian shirt material left…
that should match?

Right?!

Cross Stitch any one?

It's been years since I've done counted cross stitch
but I'm LOVING this project!
Especially when I can stitch at the canal!

Little Miss Shabby started a stitch along called
"Quilted Stitches"

Not sure what I'll make with it … but it sure is FUN!
