Well Hello Spring…Finally!
My garden is in bloom!
The purples, pinks, peaches and yellows are just
Spectacular this year!
Just had to pick a few to bring in to enjoy!
The fragrance was mild and beautiful.
One of my Hydrangea bushes is starting to bloom!
Very exciting since last year there were hardly any blooms!
The birds have been plentiful in the Arbor Garden this spring.
We have 15 - 25 different species of birds that frequent the feeders daily.
House Finch and Wren having a stand off!
Two Flicker Woodpeckers going after ants
Along the stones of the Arbor Garden!
As far as Quilting goes….
The progress continue on my 2020 UFO -
Rainy Days & Sun Rays
(Pattern by Sarah Fielke of Australia)
Currently working on appliqué setting triangles.
Love the way these are contracted…
Instead of dealing with triangles and bias edges…
The setting triangles are made on a large square
And then cut - less handling of those pesky bias edges!!
And YES I’m using my preferred method -
Prepared Edge Applique!!
Also finished this sample for QuiltCorner Studio.
Pattern: Iconic by Lela Boutique
Fabric: Coming Up Roses by Moda
It makes a nice 78” x 78” quilt!!
June has been a busy teaching month for me!
It’s so nice to be back teach at guilds!!!
It started with a Prepared Edge Applique class at
All About Quilts in Walpole MA
(Sorry no photos)
But we did come up with a cool trick to
reverse your appliqué pattern
and help with placement of appliqué pieces!
Take a photo of your pattern,
go into your photos editing mode
And click on reverse…
Voile!!
Such a neat trick!
What did we do before smart phones!?!
I’m sure this is a known trick but it was a fun
Discovery for us at the class!!!
The next day was a Collage class at QuiltCorner Studio!
Just look at the creativity of my students!!!
Amazing!
The Ninigret Quilters of Westerly RI
were a fantastic HUGE group!
They enjoyed my “Quilting Journey” lecture!!
The next day 13 members participated in
My Prepared Edge Applique class!
SEW much FUN!
Wrapping up my teaching schedule for the spring with
a Sashiko workshop for the
Country Village Quilters Guild in Moultonboro NH
It was hotter than blazes outside but inside 13 wonderful ladies
Participated in the Sashiko workshop!
Thank you to Maria for a fabulous chicken salad sandwich!
It it the spot!
Going to guild and sharing my quilts and knowledge
Brings me such joy!
I’ve been so busy with my quilting that my painting
Has sadly taken a back seat…
But I was able to fit in a live zoom class
On Wild Flowers with Alex Kincaid.
The class started a 7pm when i had day light to work with,
But by the end the lights had to go on,
and I find in more difficult to paint…
Old eyes!!
Summer is finally starting to show up
With heat and humidity this week it will definitely
be time to turn the air conditioners on and
Paint the days away!!
Sew off to enjoy the beginnings of Summer!!
