Sewing Basket

The beginning of the summer I made this cute sewing basket

as a store sample for my favorite local quilt shop.
The sewing basket is the "Eva Sewing Basket"
by Hemma Designs.

It came out really nice with the only challenge
coming when I needed to attached the bottom bias binding.

But with the help of  these clips
it was very do-able!

A Busy "Quilty" Fall

October and November have been  very busy "Quilty" Months for me!
Three of my quilts were accepted into
The Quilter's Gathering Quilt Show in Nashua NH!
That is always such an honor -
to have your quilts accepted into a show... and to have three!
Oh My Gosh I was so thrilled!

SO of course my Mom and I drove up for
the weekend to ogle at all to the beautiful
quilts and do a little shopping!

This is Mom and I in front of "Fiesta" - now this is
a quilt that will definitely wake you up in the morning!!

"Experimental Iris" looked a bit lonely way up there!

Received lots of compliments on my "Blue Hibiscus" quilt.
I think she's my favorite!

The Yankee Quilters of Franklin and
The Proper Bostonian Quilters of West Roxbury
asked me to come and speak at there guilds!
How cool is that!

What a thrill it was to share Sashiko with all of the women of these guilds,
best of all - they really seemed to like it!
I so did not want to be one of those "boring" speakers!!!

This piece I designed using two different patterns,
minimizing one and blowing up the other!
For transferring this pattern onto the indigo fabric
the pattern was traced onto "Golden Threads" paper - I like
this paper - I can see through it and that way I can get good placement.
Using Clover's Chaco paper and a clover Tracing pen
the design was transferred onto the fabric - worked like a charm!

Everyone in attendance received a small kit of a moon flower.

Each guild member got to do some hands-on Sashiko
Lots of fun!

and once they finished they could take it home and make
a way too cute Mug Rug!!

This is what it looks like start to finish!

I had been stitching up these squares that I purchased at
the Lowell Quilt Museum and wasn't sure exactly how I
would use them .... until I saw an idea in a magazine....
now I have a beautiful table runner!

This was supposed to be the side of a tote bag,
but just could not do it ... and I'm a bag lady!
So I made a small table topper and gave it to my
sister this past spring for her birthday ...
she let me borrow it back for my lectures!
She also sent it with a note that said it was strictly a LOAN!
Gosh Darn It - I guess I'll give it back !!

Plus .... I finished up 2 Tahiti Totes pattern from Pink Sand Beach Designs
for a class I'll be teaching this winter at Quilter's Stash

This one is Mom's she picked beautiful Fall purple leave fabric....
and then I told her she couldn't have it until the Spring!!

Mine of course has the jazzy colors and trim!

Now it's time sit rest up and get ready for
Thanksgiving and Christmas - my favorite time of the year!

6 Batik FQ's

My newest adventure with batiks .... a sample for Quilter's Stash - Groovy Girls Class!
Terry Atkinson's Four Patch Farmhouse - great pattern!
Whips up very nice!

Just six fat quarters ... 3 light and 3 dark
make up this great little table runner!
I love when a quilt pattern is so versitle you can make it in
all sizes from a 3 block table runner all the way up to a queen size quilt!
And the best part ... selecting out all of the fabrics!!

Firenza Bag

I LOVE bags!
I just love selecting out the perfect fabric  -
did you know that there is actually fabric out there
that just screams "Make me into a BAG"!!
This is my latest store sample bag ...

The Firenza Bag by Pat Bravo
It's a darling small handbag that features a zip top,
pockets inside and way too cute ruffled flowers on the front.

I made it as a store sample for Quilter's Stash -
I added it to the "Bag Wall" ... the wall has everything you need to make bags!
I love it!! It's my corner of the shop!!!

Snow Day of quilting - What FUN!

I've had 2 days off from work due to snow days! Yippee!
I've spent them organizing the Groovy Girl Sewing Club that I'm teaching
at Quilter's Stash and doing some preparing for my next quilt retreat next weekend!!
I love spending time in my quilting room and looking out at all of the snow
(about a foot of new snow!)
I seem to get lost in my own little quilty world - which brings me to the picture  above.
The picture above is from Minnie's Sewing room in Disney World - my daughter
was there on a field trip a few years ago and snapped this pic with her cell phone!
"It made me think of you Mum"!
I love it - it's whimsical - and reminds me that quilting is a world
where I can loose myself in my creations!
Hope everyone has fun creating in there quilting world of whimsy!

Fiesta is FINISHED!!!!

After working on this quilt almost daily for a month the top is finally done!
This will be offered as a block of the month class at Quilter's Stash - oh I hope people like it and sign up for the class!!
It all started with my focus fabric from  Ricky Tim's. I used this fabric in the outer boarder and then selected all of the internal fabrics to blend.
It's very bright and busy and I just LOVE how it came out.
Once the class is done I can't wait to get my hands back onto this quilt and quilt it! I already have ideas floating around in my head!

Another Baby Gift

I needed to make a quick baby quilt and found this way too cute panel at my
All I did was add a quick little boarder and poof way to cute baby girl quilt!

For the back I used some charm squares from Hunky Dory and various Amy Butler, and a soft pink fabric.

For quilting I did a stitch in the ditch using the design from the quilt panel

Voila ...Baby Quilt!

The new mom to be was thrilled!
I just love making things and having the recipient love it!

Back to Bag Making!

It has been a bit since I've made any bags - but this one, from Terry Atkinson's
Groovy Girls Sewing Club, was a dream to whip up!
I'll be introducing it at my favorite local quilt shop Quilter's Stash
in December during Demo Day!
It's a great roomy shopping bag that folds up to almost nothing!

It measures 12" x 7" x 12" and stands up nice and straight, then with a few folds it compacts down to this...

I think I'll make a bunch and use them when I grocery shop!!
